Local trotter nominated for prestigious award
Written by Kyle Galley
Trafalgar trotter I See Icy Earl has been nominated for the prestigious Victorian Two-Year-Old Trotter of the Year Award.
Based on performances during the 2009/2010 Victorian racing season, which concludes on August 31, the award will be presented at a dinner at the Melton racing complex on Friday, September 17.
I See Icy Earl, trained and driven by Glenn Hunter for local owners John and Kylee Paull, won the Group 1 Redwood Classic at Maryborough in July and was one of the states better performed juvenile squaregaiters.
Members of the Victorian harness racing media selected nominees for the category based on racetrack performances for the season. Criteria includes the performances of Victorian trained horses anywhere in the world, and on the efforts of overseas trained horses on Victorian tracks.
Therefore, I See Icy Earl is up against Kiwi horse Paramount Geegee, who won the Breeders Crown Final at Melton last week, along with local Chateau De Ville. In effect, the three Group One race winners for the season in Victoria are those nominated for the award.
Regardless of the result, it is a unique feat for a local horse to be considered for such an award, and connections will be hoping their good fortune continues when I See Icy Earl returns to the racetrack next season as a three-year-old.

You'll always have a great day out when you visit a harness racing meeting at Warragul. Our facilities for patrons are superb, with bistro, bar and betting areas all located in the one fully enclosed room, which runs alongside the main straight. There's plenty of space to relax with friends and watch the racing action, without the need to step outside if the weather is ordinary.

Our course, known as "Logan Park", is located an easy 90 minutes drive east of Melbourne, directly along the Princes Freeway (M1). Take the second Warragul exit (known as the Warragul/Korumburra exit). The course is directly at the end of the exit, only 200 metres off the Freeway.

We usually race once per month, all meetings are during daylight or twilight hours. The pages of this site contain many more details about our club. If you have any questions, please telephone the office on (03) 5622 2008.

Thank you for visiting our website, and we hope to see you at a raceday soon!
